Here are 5 Ways to Join Indian Army as an Officer after Graduation :
1. CDS Entry :
CDS stands for Combined Defence Services is an UPSC conducted exam. Both male and female can apply in this Entry. There are two phases for clearing this exam. First you need to clear written exam. Secondly clear SSB (Service Selection Board).
Through CDS entry you can join all the three Armed Forces. But in this blog we will be talking about Army only.
Education Qualification : Graduation in any Degree of min. three years. As such there is no fixed percentage require. But you need to have min 60% in Graduation.
Academy you would be Joining : Through CDS entry you can opt for either OTA ( Officer’s Training Academy) or IMA (Indian Military Academy).
Eligibility Criteria : (Age)
IMA : 19-24 years (Only male)
OTA : 19-25 (Both male and Female)
2. NCC Entry :
NCC stands for National Cadet Corps. In this entry NCC certificate holders can directly appear for SSB. Both Male and Female can apply in this entry.
Through NCC entry a candidate gets an edge over others as he has already experienced life like a soldier.
Education Qualification : Graduation in any Degree with min 50% marks. Minimum duration of the degree should be 3 years.
Eligibility Criteria :
Age : 19-25 years (Both male and female).
The cadet need to have ‘A’ or ‘B’ Grade in ‘C’ certificate examination.
Academy : OTA Chennai, Tamilnadu
3. TGC Entry
TGC stands for Technical Graduates Course. Only Engineering Graduates who are in the final year or passed out can apply for this entry. This entry is only for male candidates.
So people who are not able to any job, TGC entry of Indian Army is a very big opportunity . Their is no written exam in this entry. The candidate is shortlisted on the basis of percentage in Engineering.
After that 5 Day proper SSB procedure is followed to get Recommended. Only male candidate are eligible for TGC entry.
Education Qualification : B.E/ B. Tech and final year onward degree in notified stream candidate can apply.
Eligibility Criteria :
Age : 20-27 years ( only male)
Academy : Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun
4. SSC (Technical) Entry :
SSC stands for Short Service Commission. As you know a person can take either Permanent Commission or Short Service Commission, so it’s an Technical entry and only Engineering candidates can apply for this.
In SSC Technical Entry both male and female are eligible. You don’t need to write the exam instead you can directly appear in the SSB.
Education Qualification : Engineering Degree in any Discipline.
Eligibility Criteria :
Age : 20-27 years (Both male and Female)
Academy : OTA Chennai, Tamilnadu
5. AEC Entry
AEC stand for Army Educatin Corps Entry. Through this entry you can join the Education branch of Indian Army. Only male candidates can apply for this entry.
The people who are more into teaching and fond of joining Army can apply for this.
Education Qualification : Post Graduate in M. Com/ MCA/MBA with 1st or 2nd division.

Age : 23-27 years (only male )
Academy : IMA Dehradun
